Summary
Prior to game 4, a rainbow appeared in the sky overlooking the outfield. Perhaps it has an omen? Perhaps it was a good luck charm? Or perhaps a rainbow is just a rainbow? Whatever you choose to believe, Ryan’s Landscaping was ready for game 4 regardless of any divine intervention.
On the mound for Ryan’s was their starting pitcher Brian. A-WOL, who pitched in the previous game, took defense of home plate as catcher.
Throughout the game, Ryan’s fielding unit was solid, turning over 3 scoreless innings, and one 1-run inning. The highlight of the evening for the fielding unit came in the 4th on an unlikely double play that consisted of Jennifer making a diving backhanded catch in left field. When the runners trying to advance and score, she threw the ball in to the cut-off man who toss it to A-WOL at home. Though the throw was wide to his left, A-WOL managed to make an outstretched tagged from the ground to tag the runner out. This play ended the inning and kept Old Forge scoreless that inning as well.
The offensive unit was solid, stringing hits together to keep the runs coming in. Tara had a great game in the number two spot, going 3 for 3 with 2 runs, 3 RBIs and a sacrifice. Jared, who was 1 for 4, managed to bat in 3 runs, including a 2 RBI fielder's chooice in the first. His sole hit was a solo HR shot in the 5th. In all, Ryan’s landscaping was too much for Old Forge, as they won a fun and enjoyable game 15-8.
Highlights
Jennifer: 4 for 4 with 3 run.
Tara: 3 for 3 with 2 runs, a sacrifice and 3 RBIs.
Mike: 3 for 4 (2-2B, 3B) with 2 runs, and 2 RBIs.
Jared: solo HR in the 5th.
Web gem: a double play that consisted of a diving catch in LF by Jennifer with a tag of a runner at home by A-WOL.
A-WOL’s Comments to Ryan’s Landscaping
“I’m not sure what I enjoyed the most: hitting two doubles against Old Forge, tagging the running out at home plate or helping you guys win your first game of the season. Either way, I had fun playing with you guys and I wish you guys the best of luck with the rest of the season. I will see you guys in game 5.”
