    Summary

With acting team manger A-WOL on edge regarding roster issues, Bill comes through and delivers. Before game time, Bill announced that the squad of players he rounded up would be available to play for Sunday’s game. However, most of the new players were unfamiliar with another, leaving the team little time to develop some team dynamics with one another.

Taking the mound was A-WOL. A-WOL clearly did not have his stuff, as he struggled to hit the strike zone. “Normally the wind is not a factor, but today it was clearly affecting my pitching. Most of my pitches looked good from the delivery. Some would hit their mark; others would drift and pull way from the strike zone altogether. It was reminiscence of second playoff game in the 2004 season, but just not as bad.”

The Vet’s defensive unit was fine, but it had its ups and downs, particularly the outfield. This factor could have been attributed to the fact that the team was fielding with only 9 fielders. The highlight of the game was a line-drive snag at third by Kristine.

The Vet’s offense struggled until the 5 inning. The Vets scored 7 times on 8 hits, which was highlighted by a 2-run double by Bill. This rally could have been attributed to the fact that Hill Engineering switched pitchers.

A bizarre event occurred in the 5th inning as well. While Brian was coaching on third, Colleen hit a line drive right to hit. He jumped to try and avoid it, but it ended up hitting him in the chest.

In the end, the Vets fell to Hill Engineering 23-9 in 6 innings after the game was called due to time.

    Highlights

  • Brian: 4 for 4 (2B, HR) with 2 runs and 2 RBIs.
  • A-WOL: 4 for 4 with one RBI. (First RBI of the season.)
  • Melissa: 3 for 4 with 1 RBI.

  • Web gem: Multiple line drive catches in left field by Bill.
  • Web gem: A line-drive snag at third by Kristine to end the 3rd.

  • Not so highlights

Pete: one swinging strike-out and one called strike-out.
