    Summary

With Ryan Landscaping’s pitcher unavailable for the game, team captain Jennifer McCleallan enlisted the services of Vet’s pitcher Andy Wolan. Since A-WOL and several members of Tahiti Takeout have played together in the past, so this announcement came as a pleasant surprise. And since some of TT’s team members have longed to feast on some of A-WOL’s “meatball” pitches, this game would sure be interesting.

At game time, Ryan’s Landscaping was still short a player and had to play with only 9 fielders. As expected, A-WOL took the mound for Ryan’s. To intimidate the other team, A-WOL unveiled his Gameface© softball mask.

A-WOL’s pitching was good, not yielding a single long-ball HR in the outing. While some batters, including Jon G, got the best of A-WOL’s pitching, most of TT’s batters were induced to hit either a ground ball or hit a pop fly. Unfortunately, Ryan’s fielding unit was unable to capitalize on these plays. Several throws to first were bad and various plays in the outfield were miscued, leading to extra base runners. Regardless, they were able to limit TT to 17 runs over 6 innings.

Ryan’s hitting was mixed, as they were unable to string hits together to rally. In all, Ryan’s landscaping fell to TT a respectable 17-8 with their spirits raised for their next game in two days.
